With innovation as the core focus, IBACOS’ Best Practices Research Alliance has announced that it is changing its name to the Housing Innovation Alliance.
“When we launched the Best Practices Research Alliance in 2007, we were heavily focused on the push toward zero energy homes with Building America – at the time, very edgy stuff, said Alliance Director, Betsy Scott. “We liked the word ‘innovation’ but knew it was too scary for most builders and wanted to make sure the Alliance was approachable. After all, our intent was to encourage broader market adoption, and builders were a key player in making that happen.”
Today, innovation is all around us, and housing is in a similar state of reinvention. As was the case with energy efficiency and zero energy homes eight, ten, twelve years ago, pockets of innovation are happening throughout the industry, but no one has all the answers. We believe the best ideas come from cross-industry collaboration. We haven’t abandoned best practices, but when so much innovation is needed, to focus on them would be putting the cart before the horse.
We already have some of the best and brightest minds participating in the Alliance. Our intent is to continue to grow – connecting great people from great companies to drive research, test new concepts and foster the exchange of ideas, information and resources. It’s a renewed commitment to innovate, think differently and help the housing industry evolve.
