Expert Meeting on Space Conditioning and Comfort

IBACOS will be hosting a Building America Expert Meeting on the topic of Space Conditioning and Comfort in Building America Houses at its office in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 . IBACOS is inviting a small group of industry experts in the field of HVAC and comfort. These experts will address many important questions including the following: How does system configuration and supply air temperature impact comfort? Can very low airflow systems provide the mixing that conventional forced air systems provide? How can the combined comfort performance of the building and system be characterized?

The meeting will consists of presentations and discussion with regards to the interrelationship between the thermal enclosure, the heating and cooling system, and the comfort needs of the occupants in very low load houses, and it will be attended by a number of specialists, including representatives from major production home builders, equipment manufacturers, installing contractors and researchers. As a result of this day-long meeting, IBACOS will develop a new research plan aimed at investigating the proposals and ideas brought up at the expert meeting, and report their findings to the Department of Energy.
