Manufacturers Invest in Unique Building America Community

Noisette, an ambitious Building America community that developed high performance goals in partnership with IBACOS, aims to set the pace for sustainable, energy efficient redevelopment on a community-wide scale. On September 14, 2004, Noisette hosted a grand opening event to inaugurate a new facility and recognized the contributions of manufacturers from all over the country. The new facility, called the Noisette Urban Alliance Studio, will host a variety of sustainability programs for residents and building professionals. It will also house an important alliance of manufacturers, the Noisette Urban Alliance, which represents a professional coalition unlike any other in the movement towards building sustainable communities. The 15-member alliance, which includes Andersen Windows, Carrier, Owens-Corning, and others, will work towards making sustainable practices more accessible to the average consumer. This unique event underscored the integration of Building America principles, key corporations in the building industry, and an entire community of homeowners and businesses.

Noisette is one of the largest urban revival efforts of its kind, having master planned 3,000 acres in the city of North Charleston, South Carolina. Redevelopment efforts will affect commercial, residential, and non-profit entities in the area and will hold sustainable practices at the core of planning and construction methods.
