Brad Oberg, AIA
As Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of IBACOS, Brad oversees construction research services to government and private industry, and services to production homebuilders to help them increase the quality and performance of their homes. With extensive experience in product development, the manufacturing process, testing, and evaluation, he provides guidance to the balancing of technical efforts in IBACOS’ work with the Building America Program. Additionally, Brad provides best practice training to the nation's top homebuilders on the job site and through the development of online courses for BuildIQ, an online training company for the construction industry. He has also worked with developers to establish performance guidelines to create a flexible goal-oriented incentive structure. Brad was previously president of the Energy Efficient Building Association. In that role, he guided the creation of the premier training source for residential building science and construction technologies. Prior to that, Brad led a New Products Laboratory at the Libertyville Research Center for USG Corporation, contributing to improvements in Durock® cement board systems, prison security constructions and high attenuation communication vaults, and composite construction materials for residential applications. Brad has been involved in construction research since the early 1970s, investigating fire performance, life safety, product design, and manufacturing issues at Owens Corning Research Labs. Brad is a member of the American Institute of Architects, The U.S. Green Building Council, BOCA, ICBO, and NFPA. He received his Master's degree in Architecture from Ohio State University and his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Lehigh University.
